COURSE DEFINITION
In this course, the students will learn the concept of environment, ecosystem and its elements, natural ecosystems and their properties, energy sources and problems, causes of environmental problems, the definition of pollution, pollutant sources, wastes and pollution, food chain and pollution, types of pollution, air pollution and pollutants, global warming, sources polluting the atmosphere, environmental pollutants from agricultural sources, causes of soil pollution, effects of air pollutants to the soil, use of polluted water in agriculture, treatment sludge and soil pollution, pesticides, heavy metals and soil pollution, soil protection regulations, chemical fertilizers and soil pollution, solid waste management, water pollution, pollution of water and some concepts used for it, water pollution problems in Turkey, wetlands, the concept and history of the environmental impact assessment (EIA), stages of EIA, environmental impact methods, environmental impact regulations, regulations of soil, water and air pollutions.
