Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

At least one midterm exam is given for each course in a semester. The lecturer can evaluate homework, projects, laboratories and similar studies as midterm exams. At the end of each semester, a final exam is held. All exam results and studies for the semester and attendance are taken into account in the assignment of the course grade. The instructor of the course decides on the shape, weight and grades of the exams. At the end of a semester, one of the following letter grades for each course is given to students as a success grade. Letters and coefficients of letters are shown below. In order for students to be considered successful in a course, they must get at least "C" as a success grade from that course. The "E" grade is a temporary grade given if a student who has an excuse accepted as valid according to the 28th article of the Baskent University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations cannot complete the required studies for the course or cannot take the final exam. A grade of "Y" is given if it is successful in the term project course, and "Z" grade is given if it is unsuccessful. "F1" grade is given to students who fail the course despite attending the course, and "F2" grade is given to students who are considered unsuccessful in that course due to absenteeism.
