Key Learning Outcomes

  • Have advanced knowledge, built upon competences gained in secondary education, with the support of textbooks containing up-to-date information, modern tools and instruments, and other types of scientific resources.
  • Evaluate tourism-related concepts, ideas and data with scientific methods, determine and analyze complex problems and topics, discuss related issues, and offer solutions based on evidence and research.
  • Inform professional and non-professional audiences about tourism-related issues, and communicate their thoughts, problems and solutions in written and oral form.
  • Communicate effectively in Turkish in written and oral form to convey their ideas and knowledge clearly to others, and have critical thinking and interpretation skills.
  • Have sufficient knowledge about the internal and external environmental factors, departments, interrelations, politics and strategies of tourism enterprises.
  • Defines possible problems of tourism enterprises and generate different approaches to problem solving and evaluate the alternatives on the basis of critical thought and skills of analysis.
  • Plan, organize and manage training programs for the stakeholders and communicate effectively with stakeholders in order to increase their understanding and occupational skills in tourism.
  • Have knowledge in at least one foreign language skill, its lexicology and grammar and follow the field of study and communicate with colleagues, peers and partners ("European Language Portfolio Global Scale", Level B1).
  • Have relevant knowledge and skills on the information technologies used in tourism (property management systems, ticketing etc.) (ECDL-A "European Computer Driving License", Advanced Level).
  • Have relevant information and consciousness on legal issues related to working life and the industry, safety regulations of industry, social security issues, quality control and management and protection of natural environment.
  • Committed to ethical values, social justice, cultural values and social responsibility issues and comprehend the desires and needs of the employees and the society, understand the socio-economic characteristics of micro-environment.
  • Have sufficient knowledge about the managerial process in tourism enterprises in the means of planning, organizing, leading and controlling and evaluate the implementations.
  • Have relevant information about the services (front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, recreation.. etc..) given in the tourism enterprises.
