At the end of this course, the students; 1) Can discuss the basic concepts and major research in the field of evolutionary social psychology. 2) Can discuss different psychological approaches to evolutionary social psychology. 3) Can critically evaluate the main theoretical approaches in the field of evolutionary social psychology. 4) Can interpret the main research methods used in evolutionary social psychology studies. 5) Can make inferences about individual and cultural differences in social behavior based on evolutionary social psychology theories.

COURSE DEFINITION | The purpose of this course is to understand the evolutionary explanations underlying the social psychological processes. Topics such as intergroup and intragroup processes, social cognitive processes and emotions, interpersonal relationships, close relationships will be taken into account from an evolutionary perspective. At the end of the course, the students are expected to have a firm grasp on evolutionary theory and the basic evolutionary mechanisms, and they can develop and test hypotheses that can explain social psychology concepts with evolutionary processes. |
