LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) will be able to define the ethical principles of community interpreting.
2) will be able to prepare terminology required for community interpreting.
3) will become familiar with different environments and settings where community interpreters are required to work.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course deals with community interpreting with special emphasis on work manners and ethics. Besides consecutive, simultaneous, and sight interpreting, work manners and ethics will also receive particular emphasis. Students will practice interpreting through various scenarios simulating legal, medical, and educational settings. They will be able to enhance their subject-specific terminology acquisition skills through various assignments.

5th Week Terminology on medical and legal fields and investigation of case study regarding Conference Interpreting
6th Week Conference Interpreting in Health Care Services and Interpreting Services
7th Week Role play about Hospital Interpreting
8th Week Midterm Exam
9th Week Community Interpreting in legal field and role play about Court Interpreting
10th Week Interpreting Practice: Refugee Interpreting
11th Week Interpreting Practice: Police Investigation
