LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) will grasp the audio-visual text types and their properties.
2) will define visual art and media products like movies, advertisements, documentaries with translation-oriented analysis techniques.
3) will be able to produce proper translation texts by analysing audio-visual texts including different themes and styles.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course aims at offering technical and theoretical approaches to screen translation in order to inform students about subtitling. It teaches students important steps which are required to be followed in subtitle translation practice and then proceeds on showing them how to solve linguistic, cultural and technical problems encountered during the subtitle translation process. Students will get a chance to put their theoretical knowledge regarding to screen translation into practice by using audio-visual materials.
