LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) will be able to have competence in necessary terminology and conceptual knowledge related to text types in the fields like economy, commerce, finance etc.
2) will learn to carry out translation-oriented linguistic, contextual and extralinguistic analyses of economics and commerce texts,
3) will be able to carry out translation of economics and commerce within English-Turkish language pair.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course aims to inform the students about the language properties of commerce and economics texts and associate those properties with translation from the point of elements, such as cultural differences, content, word selection, textual function, syntactic bundles, and knowledge structures. It is also aimed to ensure that students become familiar with the terminology regarding to economics and commerce texts, and to analyse the textual structure of this field with the help of translation practices. Translation practices are conducted in the fields of economics, management, banking, commerce, insurance and labour law.
