LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT |
At the end of this course, the students; 1) will be able to define interpreting strategies particular to sight translation. 2) will acquire knowledge of terminology regarding different English and Turkish text types and be able to practice interpreting. 3) will be able to recognise the challenges that can be encountered within the scope of translation and find solutions to them.

COURSE DEFINITION | The main goal of this course is to make students acquire the basic skills of sight interpreting so that they will get ready for simultaneous and consecutive translation. It targets the students to read and understand texts fast so that they can paraphrase and summarize texts, focusing on the main ideas and on the message rather than the structure. Therefore, students are given extensive exercises on summarizing and paraphrasing as well as exercises on identifying the main idea of the texts. |
