LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Students will have learned basic communication skills to communicate with mute and deaf individuals and will know how to act accordingly.
2) Students will have learned basic terminology and grammar in the Turkish sign language ranging from A1 to A2.
3) Students will be able to understand and translate mute and deaf individuals from Turkish sign language to English ranging from A1 to A2.

COURSE DEFINITIONTo teach students the foundation of Turkish sign language in Turkey and how it has become an important aspect of linguistics for the Turkish language. To teach students the importance of mute people, how to address them, translate for them and generally have an idea of what to do when communicating with a mute Turkish individual. To be able to translate English to an A1 to B1 Turkish sign language level or the other way around.

WEEKTOPICS
1st Week General introduction of the course
2nd Week What is sign language, who uses it, how to use sign language.
3rd Week Videos related to international and national organizations and content related to sign language
4th Week Introduction and usage of the TID alphabet.
5th Week The psychological effects that can be had, the basic ethics of translation between mute and hearing individuals.
6th Week Where sign language translation will be required and preparations for those places, Translation and Translation Practice after a general terminology training.
7th Week General Review and Exercise
8th Week Midterm
9th Week Translation and Translation Practice after a general terminology training
10th Week Translation and Translation Practice after a general terminology training
11th Week Translation and Translation Practice after a general terminology training
12th Week Translation and Translation Practice after a general terminology training
13th Week Translation and Translation Practice after a general terminology training
14th Week General Review and Exercise
15th Week Final
