At the end of this course, the students; 1) will be able to understand the process of translation, 2) will be able to be informed about the importance of translation, 3) will be able to be equipped with different approach to translation, 4) will be able to be equipped with different techniques used in especially written translation, 5) will be able to find solutions to some basic problems in written translation.

COURSE DEFINITION
This course aims to provide a basic framework for the translation and interpretation process and to prepare the students for the translation courses in the following years. For this purpose, firstly, Turkish and English grammatical structures will be reviewed and the ways of translating them will be discussed. Secondly, it will present the general concepts of translation such as source language, target language, equivalence, context or discourse. It will also introduce the students to basic text types, possible translation strategies and few examples of their translations.
