COURSE DEFINITIONThe aim of this course is to discuss what kind of a determination mass media has in the social subjects? attempt to answer the question of who they are. While the construction of the self is progressed in the intrapersonal level in the first level, the representations of self in media within the context of fame impact this smaller scale construction process. In this context, it will be discussed whether the construction of an authentic self is possible and this ideal has a further reflection of the neoliberal politics? aim to create an illusion. It will be discussed whether the body representations of the power elites cause the individuals to find who they are or to deviate from their ways. This discussion will include readings from Western and Eastern philosophy and also classroom assessments
