COURSE DEFINITION
In this course the students will discuss the ethic concept, the relationship between freedom, democracy and ethics, and the difference between virtue based ethics and duty based ethics. They will ask questions about the relationship between the way media system functions and the the ethical rules of journalism or how the ownership patterns of media can force a journalist to act in a way that conflicts the professional behavioral rules of journalism. They will be familiar with the ethical issues that journalists face in some specialist fields such as war and conflict reporting, reporting politics, reporting health and photo-journalism.
