At the end of this course, the students;
1) To understand and identify the structural differences between English and Turkish
2) To recall previous knowledge on grammar and apply this knowledge to academic content
3) To realize different uses of words in different contexts
4) To translate sentences of various structure and level of difficulty into the target language, considering important points about tone and content
5) To produce alternative translations for the words, phrases and structures given in the source language
6) To enrich their academic vocabulary
7) To enhance their comprehension of academic written material
8) To develop analytical thinking skills

| COURSE DEFINITION | ENG 350 is an upper-intermediate (C1 level) course which aims to equip students with the techniques and strategies necessary to translate academic texts of various structure and level of difficulty into English and Turkish. The course aims to develop students? ability to read and understand academic texts, translate them into Turkish and English, and enhance their knowledge of academic vocabulary. |
