LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Students will able to; identify the developmental characteristics (cognitive, verbal etc.) of preschool children.
2) Recognize the significance and necessity of the assessment of preschool children, know the functions of preschool children assessment tools,
3) associate the different preschool learning approaches and assessment process with each other.
4) Evaluate and make use of preschool children assessment tools when it becomes necessary, report the assessment outcomes,
5) Prepare a suitable plan for preschool children considering the assessment report,
6) Make arrangements in educational setting in the light of the assessment report.

COURSE DEFINITIONThe aim of this course is to identify preschool children with their holistic development, to determine their developmental and educational needs, to provide them with information about the use of tools used in child recognition and assessment. In addition, it is aimed to inform the child development professionals about the analysis and interpretation of the child recognition and assessment tools that can be used.

3rd Week Evaluation according to different learning approaches
4th Week Techniques that can be used to recognize children: Observation technique Points to be considered while observing
5th Week Observational techniques: Anecdotal records, Checklists, Duration Records
6th Week Observational Techniques: Time sampling, Event sampling, Rate Scales
7th Week Interview technique
8th Week Questionnaire technique for children - Desire lists
9th Week Midterm
10th Week Case study
11th Week Game based evaluation
12th Week Program based evaluation
13th Week Portfolio
14th Week Documentation and Standard tests
15th Week The role and role of the family in recognizing and evaluating the child
