LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Explains the importance of health nutrition for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
2) Exemplifies the disadvantages of bad nutrition.
3) Discusses the problems in child nutrition.
4) Compares the proper nutrition for 0-6 years children.
5) Prepares healthy and nutritious menus for early childhood period

Takes into consideration the rules of health and cleaning in the preparation of foods.

COURSE DEFINITIONWithin this course it is aimed to define and explain the importance of nutrition, nutrient elements, food groups, enrichment of foods in terms of nutrient values, nutrition in special cases such as pregnancy and breastfeeding women, disadvantages of bad nutrition, problems in child nutrition, proper nutrition for 0-6 years children, school age children and adolescence,planning menus for early childhood period, hygiene and health principles in food preparation and service.

2nd Week programs and practices related to maternal and infant nutrition in the World and Turkey
3rd Week Nutrition during pregnancy and lactation
4th Week General nutritional principles of 0-1 year old babies
5th Week Energy and macro nutrient requirements of 0-1 year old babies
6th Week Breast milk and its applications, Complementary nutrition
7th Week Nutritional properties of 1-3 year old children, applications
8th Week Midterm
9th Week Nutritional properties of preschool children (3-5 years old), applications
10th Week Energy and macro nutrients requirements of 1-5 years old children, micronutrients requirements
11th Week Nutrition of School Age Children
12th Week Nutrition in the adolescent period
13th Week Menu Planning in Nurseries
14th Week General evaluation
15th Week FINAL EXAMINATION
