COURSE DEFINITIONThe students will be informed about the protection and intervention techniques that can be applied in the buildings within the scope of cultural assets and the necessary project works, and also they will be given a restitution and restoration project for a selected sample building. During the course, the re-functionalization of the buildings selected as the subject of study, and the examination of all kinds of interventions according to the contemporary museum requirements will be carried out. It is aimed that the suggestions to be prepared within the duration of the course and then will be finalized with interior space arrangement design and application.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week Introduction to analysis of an old building for restoration and preservation for its new function as museum
2nd Week Theoretical basis of conservation and refunctioning
3rd Week Ethical values and criteria for reuse of an old building, how to prepare restitution project
4th Week Space and Function Relation
5th Week Ensuring modern comfort and health conditions while conserving preserving an old building for new function
6th Week Furnishing and decoration of the museum space after preservation
7th Week Project Sketch Presentation for the Jury
8th Week Project Presentation and Exhibition
9th Week Details of the exhibition design of the project
10th Week Identification of the re-functionalized structures with the designers to be examined as a research subject.
11th Week General analysis of the restored museum building and qualitative analysis of new approaches, general evaluation and conclusion of the research project
12th Week Project presentation and presentation, 1st Group
13th Week Project presentation and presentation, 2.Group
14th Week Project feedback and creating a survey
