Profile of the Programme
Başkent University Department of Educational Sciences Guidance and Psychological Counselling Programme was established in order to train future school counselors and to contribute to the field through research. An undergraduate diploma from Guidance and Psychological Counselling Programmes is necessary to work as a school counselor in Turkey.The undergraduate programmes at universities last 4 years (8 semesters) and students are selected through a central test called LYS (Undergraduate Placement Test) implemented by ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center). High school graduates are admitted to the programme according to their Turkish-Math 3 (TM-3) LYS results.
Every year fifty students are accepted to the programme. The Programme in Guidance and Psychological Counseling is in the Faculty of Education, located at Baglica Campus of Başkent University. There are 10 full time instructors including 3 professor, 4 assistant professor, 1 lecturer Phd, 1 lecturer and 1 research assistant. The academic board of the department makes the decisions related to the programme.
