Profile of the Programme

Biotechnology is the use of living systems and organisms to develop or make products, or "any technological application that uses biological systems, living organisms, or derivatives thereof, to make or modify products or processes for specific use. Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary field which involves integration of life sciences such as molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, physiology with engineering sciences. Master of Sciences Program in Biotechnology consists of graduate level theoretical knowledge with laboratory applications particularly in medical and plant biotechnology, and the ways of knowledge acquirement in the area. Laboratory practices will be held in the research and application facilities of the Institute of Transplantation and Gene Sciences. In concordance with the multidisciplinary nature of biotechnology, experienced and qualified academic members of the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science and Letters, and Faculty of Education of Baskent University will contribute to, and jointly conduct the education and research programs.
