LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Distinguish between normal and abnormal behavior.
2) Monitor the historical development of the classification of psychological disorders.
3) Identify the contemporary perspectives of abnormal behavior's origins.
4) Explain the clinical pictures, epidemiology and prognoses of common psychopathologies.
5) Evaluate the etiologies and appropriate treatment approaches of common psychopathologies.

COURSE DEFINITIONThe aim of this course is to differentiate between the concepts of normal and abnormal behavior, learn about the different theories/perspectives used to explain the underlying dynamics leading to abnormal mental processes and gain knowledge about the different ways to diagnose abnormal behavior, their characteristics, and their possible causes. Within the scope of the course, students gain knowledge about the diagnostic criteria, etiologies and treatment processes of psychopathologies experienced in the adulthood.
