1) Explain the basic learning theories and models.
2) Distinguish the similarities and differences between the basic concepts of learning.
3) Determine the sources of behavior of organisms (humans and animals).
4) Establish the relationships between learning and other fundamental subjects of psychology.
5) Explain concepts and theories about memory.
6) Categorize memory according to its basic functions.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course aims to provide students with a comprehensive knowledge about the cognitive processes underlying learning and memory. The course covers such topics as associative and non-associative learning, classical and operant conditioning, reinforcement, punishment and avoidance, generalization, observational and motor learning, short-term memory, long-term memory, implicit memory, explicit memory, working memory and its components, encoding and retrieval, distortion, forgetting, childhood amnesia, autobiographical memory, and false memories.
