COURSE DEFINITIONThis course broadens students? linguistics skills acquired in ?Linguistics I? by surveying how linguists analyze the structure and the use of language. It concentrates on the relationship between social factors and the form of language (sociolinguistics), the way language develops over time (historical linguistics), and the relationship between language, thought, and the workings of the brain (psycho- and neurolinguistics) from the perspective of translation studies.
