At the end of this course, the students; 1) Learns the definition of Public Health, the causes of disease and the basic steps in protecting health. 2) Gain knowledge about the epidemiological characteristics of infectious and chronic diseases and explain prevention and monitoring methods. 3) Gains information about the health problems of society's risk groups (children, women and the elderly). 4) Learns information about global environmental problems and common disasters and what activities need to be done. 5) Learns the current health organization in Turkey and the health personnel working with health institutions

COURSE DEFINITION
It will cover the concept of public health, basic principles in protecting health, duties of individuals and institutions against diseases, organizational models of health services, important public health problems related to the environment, occupational health and safety of employees, and health and social problems specific to women, children and the elderly.
