LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Learn drugs affecting the endocrine and central nervous system, and chemotherapeutic drugs.
2) Understand the mechanisms of action of these drugs.
3) Have knowledge about contraindications, side effects, drug interactions and usage of these drugs in special patient groups (pediatric and geriatric patients, elderly, pregnancy, breastfeeding).

COURSE DEFINITIONThe aim of this course is to give information about the pharmacological properties of drugs affecting affecting the endocrine and central nervous system, and chemotherapeutic drugs.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week Introduction to endocrine system pharmacology, Hypothalamo-pituitary system and thyroid hormones and antithyroid drugs
2nd Week Insulin and oral antidiabetics
3rd Week Glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids, Sex hormones and oral contraceptives
4th Week Introduction to central nervous system, General and local anaesthetics
5th Week Sedative-hypnotics, and anxiolytic drugs
6th Week Antidepressant agents and antipsychotics
7th Week Mid-term
8th Week Drugs Used in the Treatment of Neurodegenerative Diseases and Antiepileptics
9th Week Opioid analgesics and antagonists
10th Week Introduction to chemotherapeutics, antiseptic drugs
11th Week Penicillines, cephalosporines and other beta-lactam antibiotics
12th Week Sulfonamides, macrolides and lincosamides
13th Week Antiviral, antifungal, antiparasiter, antihelmintic drugs
14th Week Cancer chemotherapy
15th Week Final
