At the end of this course, the students; 1) will know the extraction, detection and determination methods of the fractions having nitrogen in their structure from medicinal plants and/or crude drugs; will learn the chemicals, equipments and devices used for these experiments and get the ability of using them. 2) will know the isolation of active compounds having nitrogen in their structure from herbal extracts, their qualitative and quantitative determination methods and will learn the activities of herbal enzymes 3) will know the pharmacopeial and monograph specifications of medicinal drugs and alkaloids and their importance in human health, get the ability of using pharmacopeia methods 4) will learn and apply activity screening methods for penicilline and tetracycline 5) will know the preparation and usage of homeopathics, medicinal teas and phytotherapeutics for human health.

COURSE DEFINITION
Students experimentally learn the extraction methods, qualitative and quantitative methods for some important metabolites in the given herbal medicine materials and compare the results with those of samples used in phytotherapy theoretically. Analysis done with pharmacopeial methods will let them to get information on the requirements of herbal medicines for pharmaceutical usage.
