LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Learn the main drug classes that affect the gastrointestinal (GI), respiratory and cardiovascular system (CVS).
2) Understand the mechanisms of action of GI, CVS and respiratory drugs and NSAIDs.
3) Have knowledge about contraindications, side effects, drug interactions and usage of these drugs in special patient groups (pediatric and geriatric patients, elderly, pregnancy, breastfeeding).

COURSE DEFINITIONThe aim of this course is to give information about the pharmacological properties of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), drugs affecting the gastrointestinal, respiratory and cardiovascular system.

3rd Week Treatment of asthma, COPD and flu
4th Week Introduction to autonomic pharmacology,
5th Week Parasympathomimetic and parasympatholitic drugs
6th Week Sympathomimetic and sympatholitic drugs
7th Week Neuromuscular junction blocking agents and ganglion blockers
8th Week Mid-term
9th Week Introduction to cardiovascular system pharmacology
10th Week Antihypertensive drugs
11th Week Antianginal drugs
12th Week Treatment of congestive heart failure
13th Week Antiarrythmic drugs
14th Week Antitrombotics and antianemics
15th Week Antihyperlipidemics
16th Week Drugs affecting fluid-electrolyte and acid-base balance
