LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Will gain information on historical pathyways of ğharmacy and drugs, will learn tthe rules and the education on this area in recent times and in the past.
2) Will learn the historical developments of the different departments in pharmacy education and their contribution to medicine and pharmacy
3) Will learn and understand the importance of the ethical rules in pharmaceutical deontology and health ethics in health studies.

COURSE DEFINITIONStarting from the primitive societies the historical evolution of pharmacy and pharmaceutics is given briefly. The changes in pharmacy applications during Middle age, before and after Ottoman periods are also explained. Milestones in scientific pharmacy in Turkiye starting with the foundations of Faculty of Pharmacies as well as actualization of the rules, regulations and professional associations are given.The foundation of the disciplines in the Faculties and their missions in undergraduate and graduate education are introduced. The rules and the importance of medical ethics and deontology are emphasized.

1st Week 1. week Introduction, the historical evolution of pharmacy and pharmaceutics in primitive societies
2nd Week 2. week The pharmacy applications during Middle age, before and during Ottoman periods
3rd Week 3. week The beginning of scientific pharmacy in the last Ottoman period and during republic period.
4th Week 4. week The pharmacy undergraduate education in Turkiye and the milestones in education.
5th Week 5. week Foundations of Faculties, new disciplines,important persons and dates for scientific pharmacy.
6th Week 6. week The disciplines in Pharmacy: the history, importance in education and research.
7th Week 7. week Mid-term exam
8th Week 8. week The disciplines in Pharmacy: the history, importance in education and research.
9th Week 9. week The disciplines in Pharmacy: the history, importance in education and research.
10th Week 10. week Pharmacy museums, Professional Associations (TEB etc) and their activities
11th Week 11. week The rules, regulations in Pharmacy and important dates in pharmacy
