LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Knows the concepts and theories of crisis and crisis counseling.
2) Evaluates the crisis and related processes within different development periods.
3) Discusses individual, family and social characteristics as cause, result and process within the scope of crisis experiences and crisis counseling.
4) Crisis intervention, evaluates crisis counseling processes by considering their intervening and preventive qualities.
5) Knows the methods of crisis counseling and how to approach individuals experiencing crisis according to different crisis characteristics.
6) Knows the qualifications and competencies that the psychological counselor should have regarding crisis counseling and is willing to question and develop himself within the scope of these features.
7) Knows professional ethical and legal requirements in crisis and crisis intervention processes.

COURSE DEFINITIONThe nature and theories of crises, awareness for indepth understanding for crises; multidisciplinary solutions to crises, emergencies, or disasters; cognitive, affective, behavioral, and neurological effects associated with trauma; brief, intermediate and long-term approaches; assessment strategies for clients in crisis and principles of crises intervention processes.

1st Week Information about the goals of the course and processes.
2nd Week Crisis counseling as prevention and intervention in life events in the context of crisis and other related concepts (mourning, trauma, disaster, etc.)
3rd Week Crisis theories
4th Week Crisis theories
5th Week Crisis and crisis intervention principles and processes in the context of developmental and situational processes and psychopathologies (childhood-adolescence-emerging adulthood)
6th Week Crisis and crisis intervention principles and processes in the context of developmental and situational processes and psychopathologies (adult-old age)
7th Week Crisis and crisis intervention in educational environments
8th Week Midterm
9th Week Physical and mental illnesses and crisis counseling
10th Week Natural and / or human disasters and crisis counseling
11th Week Neglect, abuse, harassment and rape experiences and crisis counseling
12th Week Self-harm behaviors and crisis counseling
13th Week Crisis and trauma, disaster etc. Crisis counseling with disadvantaged, special needs individuals and groups in the context of related concepts
14th Week Professional ethics and legal processes in crisis counseling
