COURSE DEFINITIONThis lesson is designed to examine scientific research methods and stages of scientific research process. The course covers the techniques of finding research questions, constructing hypotheses, conceptualizing, measuring, data collection, data analysis, interpretation and report writing. The concept of ethics and ethical theories, research ethics and publication ethics, unethical behaviors are discussed.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week The nature of the research. Ways of accessing information, types of research and general research methods
2nd Week The aim of the research, the problem, the research question, the features that should be in a good research question.
3rd Week Variable types in research. Meaning of research hypothesis.
4th Week Literature review and methods.
5th Week Sample selection methods. External validity in research.
6th Week Types of measuring tools.
7th Week Using statistics in research.
8th Week The validity and reliability of the scores obtained from the tools
9th Week Internal validity of the research and influencing factors.
10th Week Analysis of data and reporting of analysis results.
11th Week Experimental methods
12th Week Correlative and comparison studies
13th Week Research and ethics. Basic ethical principles.
14th Week Field scans
