LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) gain awareness by examining the economic, social and cultural potentials of people with disabilities,
2) provide support with designs for using the potential of people with disabilities for the general economic and social benefit of society,
3) are able to develop necessary approaches regarding the connection between the concept of Accessibility and design, taking into account the principles of Universal design.

COURSE DEFINITIONThe design course for the handicapped can be physical, mental, etc., for various reasons, from birth or later. the concept of disability, which is defined as people who have lost their abilities; It focuses on solving problems such as individuals having difficulties in meeting their daily needs and keeping up with social life. While taking into account the types of disability that occur according to which ability the individual has lost, it is effective in life facilitating studies and design thoughts.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week The concept of disability is defined and examined.
2nd Week Investigations are made regarding the increase in living standards for the disabled.
3rd Week Investigations are made regarding the increase in living standards for the disabled and new approaches are developed.
4th Week Investigations continue by focusing on the economic, social and cultural potentials of people with disabilities.
5th Week Considering the principles of universal design, the opinions expressed on the division of the human population into healthy and disabled people are emphasized.
6th Week Emphasizes the importance of the societal need to use the potential of people with disabilities for the general economic and social benefit of society.
7th Week The concept of accessibility is emphasized so that people with disabilities can use the means of access to homes, public buildings and workplaces.
8th Week While emphasizing the concept of accessibility, its connections with design are examined so that people with disabilities can use the means of access to homes, public buildings and workplaces.
9th Week While examining the connections between the concept of accessibility and design, the physical, sensory, and mental grouping and scope of obstacles are generally emphasized.
10th Week By focusing on the solution of problems such as individuals' difficulties in meeting their daily needs and keeping up with social life, the necessary conditions are determined in order to put the research into practice.
11th Week By focusing on solving problems such as individuals having difficulties in meeting their daily needs and keeping up with social life, the necessary conditions are prepared and developed as a project so that the researches can be put into practice.
12th Week By focusing on solving problems such as individuals having difficulties in meeting their daily needs and keeping up with social life, the necessary conditions are prepared and developed as a project so that the researches can be put into practice.
13th Week By focusing on solving problems such as individuals' difficulties in meeting their daily needs and keeping up with social life, the necessary conditions for the implementation of the researches are delivered as a project.
14th Week While examining the connections between the concept of accessibility and design, the physical, sensory and mental grouping of the obstacles in general and the development of awareness on their scope are provided.
