COURSE DEFINITION
This course aims to teach the skill to read the animation texts effectively with their sub-texts and concepts. After the students have acquired the skill to read the animation texts, they will be taught how to express themselves via a animation channel in an original and meaningful way.

History of animation and moving image.

Animation styles I (2D, 3D)

Animation styles II (Stop-motion and its subdivisions)

Introduction to animation principles; guiding perception with visual input.
7th Week
Midterm
8th Week
Visual perception; Creation of mood and atmospheres through animation.
9th Week
Visual storytelling: In class exercise and discussion of student work.
10th Week
Visual storytelling; visual space, staging, layouts and construction.
11th Week
Introduction to character design; the visual effect of character design on storytelling.
12th Week
Storyboarding and Animatics; The Importance of storyboarding in animation. In class storyboard exercises.
13th Week
The presentation of first drafts by students; Review and feedback.

General evaluation of the course; Review of process in Final Projects.
