1) will be able to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering

COURSE DEFINITIONThe design process for Mechanical Engineering. Graphical and analytical linkage synthesis - function generation, two, three and four position synthesis in plane motion. Classical transmission angle problem and optimization for the transmission angle. Structural error minimization using Chebychev's approximation - optimization approaches. Cam design. Dynamic forces and balancing. Cam dynamics. Applications in robot hands, space structures, combustion engines.
