LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Have the ability to explain basic concepts such as database, data, information .
2) Have the ability to create database, tables, forms, and reports.
3) Can apply the first three normalization forms to unnormal tables and draw ER diagrams.
4) Have the ability to write SQL queries (selecting, updating, deleting and adding).
5) Have the ability to write VBA module.

COURSE DEFINITIONIn this course, database, basic information and concepts about database management systems, designing tables, queries, forms and reports, normalization, entity relationship diagrams (ER), structured query language (SQL), module programming are covered.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week Data, information, database : understanding. Basic concept and structure of DB.
2nd Week Tables: Data types, create table practices on Access and MySQL
3rd Week Normalization process and draw ER diagrams.
4th Week Queries: Introduction to SQL. SELECT command.
5th Week Queries: SELECT and INSERT command
6th Week Queries: DELETE and UPDATE command
7th Week Reports: Create reports.
8th Week Midterm
9th Week VBA programming : Module, subroutine and variable types
10th Week VBA programming : Standart functions
11th Week VBA programming : Control Structures
12th Week VBA programming : Arrays
13th Week VBA programming : Data Access Objects
14th Week Sample Applications
