LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT |
At the end of this course, the students; 1) Have the ability to understand the basic concepts and principles of linear programming. 2) Model the industrial engineering problems. 3) Have the ability to apply operational research methods to solve the decison models. 4) Have the ability to use the related softwares and to interpret the results obtained.

COURSE DEFINITION | Origins of Operations Research. Systems approach, interdisciplinary research and the scientific method. Fundamentals and the theory of linear programming. The Simplex algorithm, big-M and two-phase Simplex method. Duality and sensitivity analysis. Transportation and assignment problems; shortest path, minimum spanning tree and minimum cost flow models. |
