LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) The application of the basic principles learned in General Chemistry class.
2) Getting familiar with the laboratory equipment.
3) Performing experiments and getting skilled in interpreting the results.
4) Recording the measurements acording to the proper uncertainity range of the measuring instrument.
5) Learning the physical separation methods of the mixtures, investigating the physical and chemical properties of ionic compounds, learning to prepare a solution and using it in titration techniques.
6) Developing a sense of sharing and responsibility while working in the lab together with the other students and at the same time following the safety rules.

COURSE DEFINITIONBasic chemical apparatus are introduced. Experiments related with separation techniques, identification of substances by using their physical and chemical properties, the law of definite proportions, determination of density, solution preparation, solubility and factors affecting solubility, acid-base titrations are done.
