At the end of this course, the students; 1) Learn the basic concepts and primary research in the field of evolutionary social psychology. 2) Learn and discuss about different perspectives on evolutionary social psychology. 3) Evaluate critically the major theoretical approaches in the field of evolutionary social psychology. 4) Learn the major research methods used in studies of evolutionary social psychology. 5) Be able to explain individual and cultural differences in social behavior from the perspective of evolutionary social psychology.

COURSE DEFINITION | The aim of this course is to understand evolutionary mechanisms underlying social psychological processes and apply them to empirical studies. The course will discuss main social psychology themes with evolutionary hypotheses, including Intra-group and inter-group relationships, social cognition and affect, interpersonal relationships, and close relationships. Students will have comprehensive knowledge of evolutionary theory and fundamental evolutionary mechanisms; and they will be able to develop and test hypotheses about evolutionary social psychology issues. |
