LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT	At the end of this course, the students; 1) Learn the importance of tazkira in classical Turkish literature. 2) Learn the definiton, history, and importance of tazkiras in classical Turkish literature. 3) Learn to read and interpret tazkira texts.

COURSE DEFINITION	This course focuses on the historical and formal aspects of Tazkira genre as well as its content. Selected texts will be analyzed with regard to the tradition of biography, literary criticism in the Ottoman era, and socio-cultural aspects of Divan poetry.
