Specific Admission Requirements

Student admission requirements for the Graduate Program in Turkish Language and Literature is based on an interview and student's general academic performance. Besides, applicants are required to submit documents to prove that they have:
a) A bachelor's degree from the following departments:Turkish Langauge and Literature, Modern Turkic Langauges, Linguistics, Turkish Language and Literature Education, Turkish Education, and Turkish Folklore. Otherwise, students who have graduated from any other department might be required to get a 2 semester scientific preparation training which will be determined by the department.
b) A minimum 55 ALES, 149 GRE or 450 GMAT.
c) A certain level of foreign language in order to be admitted to the graduate program. Candidates will be directly interviewed if they have documented that they have foreign language knowledge at the desired level from any of the exams listed below:

KPDS: 50, ÜDS: 50, YDS: 50, YÖK DİL: 50, CPE: C, CAE: C, TOEFL IBT: 60, PTE: 45

Those who submit documents of one of the foreign language exams made by ÖSYM other tha English can apply to the graduate program. Applicants who do not have any document can take the Başkent University English Proficiency Test applied by the School of Foreign Languages and apply for the graduate program incase they get a minimum score of 60. International applicants need to submit Turkish Proficiency Exam score from TÖMER.
