LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT |
At the end of this course, the students; 1) Do sentence analysis by examining the syntax in both languages 2) Correctly understand the message intended to be given in the sentence and transfer it to the target language 3) Learn simple and complex sentence structures and form new sentences 4) Create the sentence structures in the target language with consistency and integrity 5) Apply the style, style and tone of the source language to the target language 6) Produce alternative translations of words, expressions and structures given in the source language 7) Increase their ability to use a dictionary 8) Develop vocabulary specific to their academic and professional fields 9) Distinguish words that have similar meanings but different usage 10) Develop effective reading and writing skills 11) Develop their listening skills in order to comment on the translations and give feedback 12) Develop analytical thinking skills 13) Develop the self-confidence of the students in order to enable them to use the resources in their academic and professional field effectively.

COURSE DEFINITION | LENG305 is an intermediate-upper level professional English translation course. The aim of the course is to provide students with the necessary skills to understand and define the structural differences between the English and Turkish languages, to remind their previous grammar knowledge and to use this knowledge in their own fields, to recognize the use of words in different contexts, to increase their knowledge in the target language, sentences with different difficulty structures and levels, tone and content. to translate, by considering the important points, to develop their skills to produce alternative translations for words, phrases and structures in the source language, to enrich their vocabulary in the field of law and to increase their ability to read, analyze, understand and translate legal material. |
