COURSE DEFINITION	Characteristics of academic language and writing; use definitions, concepts and terms in academic writings; Objective and subjective expression; structure and types of academic texts (article, report and scientific summary?); Claim, writing propositions (Confirmation of an idea, defend an idea, opposition to an idea); formal characteristics of scientific reports and articles; steps for writing reports; explanation, discussion, intertextual relationship, citation (citation and footnotes, bibliography); writing a title, summarize, write keywords; ethical principles to be considered in scientific writings; writing academic text.
COURSE CONTENTS	WEEK TOPICS 1st Week -Introductions- Course syllabus is distributed 2nd Week -Plan in Scientific Writing /article writing- Activity: writing bibliography 3rd Week -What is a word? What is speech? What are the principles of standard speech? 4th Week -Language awareness in speech- How to make effective speech? 5th Week -Types of Oral Expression: conference, interview, panel, seminar, symposium etc. 6th Week -Persuasive Speaking 7th Week -Critical speech 8th Week ----Midterm 9th Week -prepared and unprepared speaking practices 10th Week -prepared and unprepared speaking practices 11th Week -prepared and unprepared speaking practices 12th Week -prepared and unprepared speaking practices 13th Week -prepared and unprepared speaking practices 14th Week
