LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Make instructional plan of the course.
2) Implement teaching and learning methods of the course.
3) Implement assessment and evaluation methods of the course.
4) Teach how to read and write to 1st grade students at primary education.
5) Implement teaching and learning activities to 1st graders who know how to read and write in order to improve their reading and writing skills.

COURSE DEFINITIONHistory of literacy skills teaching in Turkey; methods for literacy skills teaching (phonics teaching, syllable method, language-experience approach etc.); sound-based sentence method and application phases; alternative applications; reading and writing problems at secondary school level; advanced literacy teaching.
