LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT	At the end of this course, the students; 1) know the textuality criteria and classify the texts. 2) understand the relationship between linguistics and text linguistics. 3) evaluate texts in terms of text linguistics and analyze text and discourse. 4) choose texts for Turkish education. 5) criticize the texts used in Turkish education.

COURSE DEFINITION	Basic principles and concepts of textlinguistics (sentence, proposition, utterance, text and textuality criteria), text, discourse and text type classifications; linguistic aspects of text types; narrative discourse, narrative texts, speech act theory, text linguistic analysis and Turkish education.
COURSE CONTENTS	WEEK TOPICS 1st Week Week 1: Concept of text, classification of texts, text types. 2nd Week Week 2: Basic principles and concepts of textlinguistics (sentence, proposition, utterance, discourse, text and textuality criteria). 3rd Week Week 3: Basic principles and concepts of text linguistics (sentence, proposition, utterance, discourse, text and textuality criteria), Minor structure in the text, major structure, superstructure. 4th Week Week 4: Small structure, large structure, superstructure in the text. Text and descriptive reading, analytical reading and interpretive reading. 5th Week Week 5: Linguistic views of text types, text and discourse analysis. 6th Week Week 6: Linguistic views of text types, text and discourse analysis. 7th Week Week 7: Linguistic views of text types, text and discourse analysis. 8th Week Week 8: Midterm Exam. 9th Week Week 9: Linguistic views of text types, text and discourse analysis. 10th Week Week 10: Narrative discourse, narrative texts and linguistic features; text analysis. 11th Week Week 11: Narrative discourse, narrative texts and linguistic features; text analysis. 12th Week Week 12: Narrative discourse, narrative texts and linguistic features; text analysis. 13th Week Week 13: Speech act theory. 14th Week Week 14: Speech act theory.
