LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT |
At the end of this course, the students; 1) Explains the role and importance of linguistic and grammar in communication. 2) Evaluates traditional grammar teaching and contemporary-linguistic grammar teaching. 3) Organizes activities in accordance with functional grammar theory. 4) Evaluates the applications in the textbooks from a critical perspective. 5) Explains controversial issues of Turkish grammar 6) Prepares course contents on controversial issues of Turkish grammar.

COURSE DEFINITION | Basic concepts of grammar; major phonetic, morphological, semantic, and syntactic properties of Turkish language; teaching grammar and its purpose; grammar teaching models and approaches in Turkish language teaching programs (Behaviorist, Cognitive, Constructivist);learning outcomes related to grammar in the Turkish language teaching program (grades 1-8); topics in teaching grammar (phonology, morphology, semantics knowledge); sequence to be followed in grammar teaching; methods and techniques, sample tasks; text-oriented grammar teaching practices. |
