At the end of this course, the students; 1) Understand basic concepts related to distance education, 2) Relate known learning theories and instructional methods with distance education, 3) Gain knowledge about the history of distance education in Turkey and in the world, together with some specific projects of several countries, 4) Learn the techniques and methods to deliver a course via distance education technologies, 5) Learn organizational and classroom management issues in open and distance education applications, 6) Gain knowledge about the features of learning and content management systems used for delivering content through internet-based technologies, 7) Use related software/systems to prepare interactive content for e-delivery, 8) Create course materials by using distance education software,

COURSE DEFINITION
This course covers the philosophy of open and distance learning with developments in the world and in Turkey regarding the changing roles of teachers and learners. In this course, students determine strategies for different learning situations by seeing classroom management and educational practices used in distance education, as opposed to in-class, depending on the technologies used in distance education. By examining the developing open learning resources, personalized learning environments and learning the student support services to be provided to these environments, students gain experience in preparing individual teaching materials and discover the problems and solutions related to distance education through existing research and evaluation methods, together with case studies.
