LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Explains the general characteristics of children's and youth literature genres (fairy tale, fable, legend, epic, story, novel, poem).
2) Explains the contribution of each of the products of children's and youth literature to the child's education.
3) Explains the design features that should be found in children's and youth books.
4) Explains the content features of children's and youth books.
5) Explains the educational principles that children and youth books should be based on.
6) Recognizes successful works of children's and youth literature in Turkish and world literature.
7) Examines and compares works of children's and youth literature in terms of their compliance with design and content criteria and educational principles.
8) Designs children's books in the context of the criterias.

COURSE DEFINITIONChildren's literature and basic concepts; Recognizing the basic sources of children's literature; discussion on the role of quality children's literature in the process of acquiring a reading culture; explanation of children's literature genres with their general characteristics; The features and basic criteria that qualified children's literature products should have; Getting to know and read quality children's books in Turkish and world children's literature; Examining and evaluating the determined children's books in terms of their compliance with the relevant criteria and educational principles; Book design according to specified criteria.
