LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) will be able to hear four voice seventh chords in all inversions, and can sight read pieces written in four accidental minor and major keys as well as atonal pieces.

COURSE DEFINITIONProviding the student with tools to correctly and effectively read music in their own field as well as the ability to notate what they hear.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week The scope of the course, Reading and dictation pieces that modulate to close keys.
2nd Week Seventh chords in root position.
3rd Week Progressions and expanded cadences in keys with three accidentals.
4th Week Two voice dictation exercises on the grand staff.
5th Week Exercise playing one part of a two-voice piece while singing the other.
6th Week Dominant seven chord inversions and their resolutions.
7th Week Exercise reading two and three-voice pieces.
8th Week MID-TERM EXAM
9th Week Secondary dominant chords.
10th Week Analysis of pieces that use secondary dominant chords: the aim of using non-diatonic notes.
11th Week Reading and dictation examples using secondary dominants.
12th Week Reading compound meters that use ties.
13th Week Reading atonal pieces.
14th Week Reading and dictation examples using minor and major keys with four accidentals.
