LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT |
At the end of this course, the students; 1) have an understanding of the application of economic theory to issues in current economic policy analysis. 2) have insight into major aspects of macroeconomic policy-making and the use of models in a historical and comparative perspective from early post-war planning to the liberalized economy of today. 3) grasp the main ideas in macroeconomic model conceptions applied in recent Turkish history and become better prepared to understand macroeconomic policy issues from a broader perspective, including institutional issues and the role of models for macroeconomic policy.

COURSE DEFINITION | The course aims to allow students to explore how economic theory and evidence can be used to analyze topical policy issues. The course should be of particular value to students who intend to work as professional economists in government departments or other agencies, where they will be expected to provide economic analysis and advice on specific
policy issues, including new and unfamiliar ones. |
