At the end of this course, the students; 1) Explain the definition and basic concepts of lexicology. 2) Explain the formal and semantic features of Turkish vocabulary. 3) Evaluate the relationship of lexicology with other linguistics branches. 4) Compare the classification criteria of word classes. 5) Classify the types of meaning.

COURSE DEFINITION
In this course, basic concepts of lexicology, parts of speech, methods of word-formation, sense relations and morphological features of words etc. issues will be discussed. Also, the origins and features of words in Turkish vocabulary, historical changes of words in Turkish and differences between words in terms of sociolinguistics wiil be emphasized.
