LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT |
At the end of this course, the students; 1) Indicate the historical and cultural status of the Turks before Islam. 2) Classify the texts of the Old Turkic belonging to the Uighur period. 3) Explain the phonetics, morphology, and syntax features of old Uighur Turkic. 4) Recognize the Uighur alphabet. 5) Analyze the morphological features of the words in a Uighur text.

COURSE DEFINITION | In this course, Uyghur literature works and alphabets used in Buddhist and Manichaean circles are introduced in the context of Uyghur Turkish, and the language is examined on selected texts.The aim of the course is to introduce students to the oldest period of Turkic languages that can be witnessed with written documents and to teach grammatical changes and developments in Turkic languages since this period.
