LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Interpret texts consisting of poetry and prose examples within the framework of classical Turkish literature tradition.
2) Apply to prosody and literary arts on sample texts.
3) Distinguish and analyze the characteristics of the 14th century Ottoman field of classical Turkish literature.
4) Recognize the literary personalities of the prominent poets of the period.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course introduces the places where Turkish written language and western language developed. It gives information about the tradition of classical Turkish literature, prosody written according to the rules of classical Turkish poetry and literary arts. The course will help students to interpret the verse in order to improve the vocabulary skills. It also introduces and examines the major poetic figures in the 13th and 14th century literature as well as the representative texts from this period.
