1) The students learn social norm definitions like traditions, customs and habits.
2) They know the sanction power of social norms
3) They acknowledge the differences of intercultural social norms
4) They learn the sources and positive - negative aspects of social norms on societies

COURSE DEFINITIONWithin this course, types of social norms, their definitions and features as concepts, their tasks within the life and the sanctions which are imposed to acceptable and unacceptable behaviors, will be introduced. While providing information about the traditions, customs and beliefs focused on crossroads which are experienced beginning from birth till to death, types of the social norms within this processes, their social and individual assignments, and the sources they gathered will also be reviewed and discussed. Additionally, it has been targeted to teach positive and negative aspects of customs and traditions within community life and their marks in Turkish culture via discussing their approvals by different geographical regions.
